Hi Amanda, thanks for visiting my blog. It’s a pleasure to meet you! I am also writing my first novel.:)

    • It’s a pleasure to meet you as well! Congratulations on starting your novel. I know first hand how hard it can be! I love all of the poetry you post, so I’m certain your novel will be amazing as well 🙂

  3. bgbowers says:

Aah, thank you. How far are you into your novel?

    • About 40,000 words. No where near where I’d like to be! Haha what about you?

Hi Amanda. Sorry, I just realised that I had not replied – rude!;) I am also at 40k. I’m putting myself on a 90 day writing diet next week. I have got to get it moving along. Stay in touch and let me know how you’re doing.:)

  4. Thanks for following my blog. I have my first novel in a file without revisions. I’ve been working on my second novel for six years, doing a new revision each year. I’m determined to make this one the last one and self publish it.

    Good luck with yours.

  5. Dear Amanda,

Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Stay tuned to my blog to know more about us 🙂

  6. Hi Amanda, thank you for the follow (The Wordkern Archive). I’ve followed you back, and not just as courtesy, i really like your blog and delighted to have the opportunity. Thanks for the follow. You have some really great stuff on here. I look forward to revisiting them when I have more time. 🙂 I’m only just around 2000 words in so I’ve got quite a ways to go with my own novel.

    • Thank you so much! Word count isn’t the most important part, it’s the quality of the writing. So let’s say if you have 2,000 amazing words and I have 40,000 average words, you’re in the lead 🙂

Thanks for the follow. It’s always good to know another writer. You asked if paperback or hardcover? I like a real book, but I have to tell you as a published author, except for book signings, 99.9% of sales in the last two years are e-books (and I don’t own a tablet, I’m trying to stand strong for real books but have to do what sells to readers.) Do you work with a good critque group? It helped me so much. Critics of your masterpiece are hard to take, but worth the time to open your literary eyes. Some things you have to ignore to keep your own voice true, but good critics are for your help not to hurt. Looking forward to seeing a best seller from you!!

  18. Nice to meet you. Luck on the book. I wrote my first draft of my first novel in Nov. I have not started the editing process yet. (Shame on me). Maybe share a paragraph or a synopsis of what you are writing???

Thanks for helping me find your blog. It’s been years since I’ve visited Ottawa. You must be almost done studying for the year – more time to write your book. Good luck with both important projects.

  33. chantellyb says:

Good luck with your novel – the first one is the most difficult. I’m working on novel #21 (8 published so far with one near release and another in final edits.)

  34. David Allen says:

Good luck on your novel. Make sure you know what you want to say at the beginning. Most of all, realize you’re not going to see the whole road. Go as far as you can see, then more of the path will reveal itself.

And thanks for the follow on authordavid.com!

  35. writingcoachnomi says:

Wow, looks like you follow lots of blogs, Amanda. Thanks for adding me into the mix. I just finished a collaborative memoir (where I worked with someone to write her book). It’s due out spring 2014 from Crown/Random House. Writing memoir is very similar to writing fiction. A good memoir has all the elements of a novel.

My own novel has been on a shelf for many years. Been waiting for some open time to take it down and dust it off . . . and finish it!

Hope you’re making headway on yours!

    hey there!

Thank you for following my blog a few mths ago! I just wanna share with you that I have recently changed host (nearly died along the way 🙂 ) and if you like, please come again to my blog and you can type in your email address as with the change in host from wordpress, new posts will not get delivered to your email address like the last time.

So if you like posts to get delivered to your email address like the past, you have to type in your email again. It only appears in your reader now, so if that works for you, then it is ok.

    thank you
    michelle
